[[Source|http://opengov.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Robert-s-Rules-of-Order-online/2782-4049]]\n"Submitted by Unsubscribed User 3 years ago"\n\n Why Is This Idea Important?: Just think how much citizens could participate in creating better government if the governmental officials meetings were held online to allow the "Public" to have an opportunity to have their input added to the record. This would mean citizens who didn't happen to live in the area where these important decisions were being made that effected them, could now participate online from anywhere at any time. All we need is Robert's Rules adopted specifically for online use, and our democracy will never be the same. Please give me your support. Thank you. ex animo davidfarrar\n\nWe desperately need Robert's Rule of Order* specifically adopted for online use so that important deliberative meetings now being held by government officials at a time and place certain, can be attended by the general public online regardless of where they happen to live and at any time.\n\nThe key to direct participation in government by we, the people, is the adaptation of Robert's Rule of Order for use online.\n\nPlease give me your support for this important innovation that will dramatically increase participatory government by the public. How cool is that for a democracy?\n\nex animo\n\ndavidfarrar\n\n* At present there is no Robert's Rules of Order specifically designed for online use.\n

[[overview]]
This is going out to people who have registered for e-Liberate or otherwise shown an interest. I realize that in many cases we haven't communicated in years! :-( At any rate…\n\n\nAs many or all of you know, we've been working on e-Liberate, an online tool for supporting deliberation using Roberts Rules of Order, for a number of years. We're hoping to support at least some of the millions of people who regularly deliberate in organizations using Roberts Rules. \n\nWe're now getting fairly close to a usable system and I've submitted it for consideration for a NCDD Catalyst Award. (NCDD is the National Coalition for Dialogue and Deliberation.) \n\nIt will help us out if you would view the proposal and, even better, add comments and endorse it. You may have to register — but it's very easy to do and we get points for page views, comments, and endorsements! Really :-) \n\nThe proposal can be found at http://ncdd.civicevolution.org/proposal/10105\n\nThanks for your consideration!!!! Please also feel free to send me your thoughts on this.\n\n--- Doug\n\n\nPS. Robots Rules is an autmation of [[Roberts Rules of Order|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roberts_Rules]]\n\nRobots Rules (rr) is a customizable open source based instance of automated meeting manager software. This is available for meeting use as a module called [[RobotRuler|HowItWorks]]. [[RobotRuler|HowItWorks]] is customizable system available via rental arrangement to facilitate the proper conduct of meetings. The initial intent is to start off with the well known public domain version of [[Roberts Rules of Order|http://robertsrules.org/]] or [[here||http://www.bartleby.com/176/]], also available [[here|http://www.constitution.org/rror/rror--00.htm]].\n\nA good discussion and general introduction to this issue is here on this [[Community Wiki|http://www.communitywiki.org/cw/RobertsRules]]. \n\nThis is what it looks like now:\n[img[http://parliament.sourceforge.net/parliamentScreenshot.jpg]]\n\nRobots Rules is based upon an earlier project called [["Parliament"|http://parliament.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl]], there is a wiki that contains source documentation of the "meeting helper" demonstration program the files of which are available on Sourceforge [[parliament-0.0.1.tar.gz|http://sourceforge.net/projects/parliament/files/]], which is the current basis of our system.\n \n[img[http://docbox.flint.com/~flint/rr_proto_2013-09-12.jpg]]\n\nThe basic model will be a subscription based model.\nThe subscriber pays:\n* One time registration fee and receives an rr-module. This attaches to:\n** An HDMI Monitor locally provided\n** A wireless Keyboard optionally provided\n** A network connection (optional for use but not optional for maintenance)\n* A monthly maintenance rental fee.\n** Time bomb option is possible if the fee is unpaid.\n\nRobots Rules will be a commercial open source device with support. The technical implementation is detailed in the following [[How Robots Rules Works|HowItWorks]]\n\nPlease take a look at the following video:\n\n<html><iframe src="http://embed.ted.com/talks/jennifer_pahlka_coding_a_better_government.html" width="560" height="315" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" webkitAllowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen></iframe></html>\n\n\nThere is another project out there called [[E-liberate|http://publicsphereproject.org/e-liberate/about/]] which is a php based web site by Doug Schuler of Evergreen State College. It does not appear to be open source at this time.\nThis is the spirit which we wish to approach this project.
